Increase Gas Mileage Products - Do These Gas Saving Products Really Work?
With fuel prices on the rise, there are hundreds of companies taking advantage of increased fuel prices by offering products that promise to increase a vehicle's mileage rate. While these products seem very attractive, there can also be additional hidden costs associated with them and can even be damaging to your vehicle. In fact, many of these products that supposedly claim to increase your mileage rate are simply gimmicks that can end up costing you hundreds of dollars. This article will expose gas saving advertising claims that simply do not work and methods you can utilize to save on fuel costs. One of the biggest claims of most gas saving products is the claim that it will increase your fuel economy by 20 percent. This is a significant claim that is hardly backed by real case studies and they often times provide false testimonials. What most of these products fail to mention is that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has actually tested over a hundred gas saving devices that failed to deliver on their promise. While an increase of 20 percent is a significant amount and can even save you a few hundred dollars per year, many of these alleged products can actually damage your car's engine. Most require some type of engine modification which can substantially increase exhaust emissions. Of course, no gas saving product is without exaggerated claims from "satisfied" customers. While these testimonials might seem real, what most of these companies fail to acknowledge is that the customer's increase in fuel rate may have resulted in other such an engine tune up or driving slower. Consumers rarely have the ability to test for precise changes in gas mileage after installing a gas saving products. There are many variables that vary from person to person that affect fuel consumption such as traffic, how the person drives and the car's condition. While you might be tempted to listen to the claims of these offers, doing so may end up causing you more money than expected. One of the best tips to increase your mileage rate is to simply drive slower and to plan more fuel efficient routes. Be sure to also keep your car properly maintained by changing out the oil when needed. You might also want to consider simply investing in a more fuel-efficient vehicle such as a hybrid. With rising fuel costs, the number of alleged gas saving products always increase but before you even consider purchasing one, always make sure to see if you can increase your vehicle's fuel efficiency.
