The Undefiled Marriage Bed - One Of The Neglected Elements Of A Successful Christian Marriage

"Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." Hebrews 13:4 (KJB)

Marriage is a binding relationship between one man, one woman and God. We know that Marriage is a picture of Salvation according to Ephesians 5:21-33 (KJB). Through Salvation we become the Bride of Christ. So just as God desires our relationship with Him to be complete (Salvation through Jesus Christ), God also wants us to have a complete relationship with our spouse. Marriage has many elements to the formula of success.

One of the elements that is often neglected in our Christian homes is the ingredient of intimacy (or the lack thereof). Sex was designed by God as an important part of Marriage. Not only for procreation but also for our enjoyment and pleasure. So why do we treat sex as such a dirty, taboo subject? One of the main reasons is we have allowed our society to produce something very ugly out of something very beautiful. Marriage does not solely depend on sex in order to be a success, but it is difficult to have a successful marriage with out it.

The bottom line is you have to have a solid, growing relationship with God, not only individually, but as a couple. Imagine marriage as a triangle. God is at the top. The Husband is on one side of the bottom, and the Wife is on the opposite side. As the Husband grows closer to God, he will be climbing the side of the triangle, and as the Wife grows closer to God, she will be climbing the other side as well. As both climb the triangle, both growing closer to God, they will be naturally growing closer to each other as the triangle will increasingly narrow as the sides reach the summit. My point is if we have the right relationship with God every thing else will fall into place. 1 Corinthians 11:8-12 says ?For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels . Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God? (KJB). When a woman and a man are joined together in marriage, the woman is given to the man and likewise the man is given to the woman and therein lies a mutual responsibility to keep each other satisfied. Not only emotionally, but physically as well. If the sexual element is avoided, the marriage will not be functional.

We live in a society that has temptation on every corner and we must take every precaution to avoid the temptation of lust. Satan is very subtle in his attempt to destroy our Christian home and many times that destruction starts in the bedroom. If we neglect our spouse sexually, the door will be opened for hurt feelings and needs left undone which will lead to temptation. This giving in to temptation could lead to the destruction of your Christian marriage.
